Boys Basketball Tryouts

We truly appreciate all of the efforts from the young men who tried out for the Mustang basketball teams. Unfortunately, we only have a certain amount of spots and there was a lot of talent in the gym, so if you have questions, you can contact any of our coaches at the emails below. A true, genuine thanks again to everyone who tried out, keep loving the game of basketball, and let's have an great season in 2018-19!

New Head Basketball Coach

By Regan Mijares 05/30/2018, 8:30am MDT

Hello everyone,

My name is Jordan Carter, and I've just been officially named the new head boys basketball coach at Mountain Range High School. I'm extremely excited to meet and begin working with all of you. I am mere days on the job, but I am fully convinced that Mustang basketball's future is incredibly bright and promising.

Quickly, a little about myself: I'm a Denver native, born and raised. I played basketball at Chatfield High School and in college at UCCS (with Derrick White, San Antonio Spurs 1st round draft pick in 2017). For the last three years, I have taught English and coached at Alameda High School and perennial power Rangeview High School under head coach Shawn Palmer. Also, I've been lucky enough to earn a Language Arts teaching position at Mountain Range.

Our plan is to get started this Friday, June 1 at 10AM with an open gym of sorts, to welcome everyone in there so I can meet both you and your parents/guardians. All players are welcome regardless of class or previous Mountain Range basketball experiences. Unfortunately, because it is busy season in the HR Department, I realize that we have may have missed the window for certain camps and tournaments, but I assure you that we will have a productive and competitive offseason.

During each week in June, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10 A.M., we will condition, lift, and get on the court. Workouts and open gyms will last until 12:30 most days. On these days it will give myself and my staff an opportunity to become familiar with each of you and your individual talents. In addition to open-gym, we plan to scrimmage other teams moving forward, in order to maintain our competitiveness and prepare to have a great 2018-19 season.

We will talk more on Friday and moving forward, but my vision for the program revolves around maximizing the skills of our players, out-working our opponents, and preparing strong young men for the world and courts outside of Mountain Range High School

I'm very excited to meet and work with all of you, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have. Email me at  I'm looking forward to working with you all!
